What a day!
After finally getting some sleep our amazing students woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready to go!  So we all hoped on a bus and made our way into Barcelona to have our first tour of the day.  We arrived at Park Guell - the home of Gaudi’s visions or a private community!  We meet up with our tour guide Rosa for the morning, who took us through the beautiful and whimsical park - showing us the many works and influences of famous artist Gaudi. After some time exploring the park - it was back on the bus for a driving tour of some of the great sites of Barcelona.  We also got to go to a wonderful look-out point to be able to see the stunning view of the whole city! After our tour, we said good-bye to Rosa and stopped for lunch.  After lunch we got to have our first of many public transit rides!  First stop - la Sagrada Familia!  The most beautiful basilica you will ever see!  Gorgeous exterior and interior all inspired and created once again by Gaudi!  Although the building is not complete - there is still so much to see and appreciate about this spectacular structure all dedicated to God. After this visit it was time to hop back onto the subway and make our way to the boardwalk.  Here we got to see the Mediterranean Sea and have some free time to eat some dinner and look at the view of the water and beach goers as they pass us by.  Lastly, after one more ride on the public transportation system - we made our way to Font Magica for their amazing water, light and musical show!  With a day full of so much adventure the group was ready to head back to the hotel for a good nights sleep!

Well, after 9 hours in the air, and a 6 hour time difference, we hoped off the last plane, and grabbed our gear and headed out of the airport into the lovely sun filled Barcelona afternoon!  We met up with our tour guide who brought us to our bus and took us on our first tour of Barcelona city!  We went to the famous Las Ramblas area and had a walking tour seeing many amazing sites! Beautiful facades of buildings, lovely tree-lined streets, the wonderful gothic quarter and a unique outdoor market filled with wonderful food and atmosphere!  After this quick walk (of which the students were promised we will be back to see all of it again with more detail) we went to have our first Spanish dinner - authentic tapas!  The group enjoyed lots of lovely food with a taste for what tapas was all about.  Exhausted beyond belief, the group headed back to the bus, with a quick pit stop to buy snacks and water - and finally made our way to the hotel for check-in.  With b...

Well it was our last day in Barcelona and it was jammed packed with tons of great sightseeing and art exploring. Our day started nice and early with a bus ride out to Figueres, the town where Salvador Dali was born and lived.  We went and visited the Dali museum - certainly a highlife in our art adventures so far!  After the museum, a stop into Esglesia de Sant Pere for some prayers, and then back on the bus to Barcelona. When we arrived in the city, we had a quick break for lunch and met up with our tour guide, Marie - who took us through the many gorgeous alleys in the gothic area.  Winding in and out of the small lane ways - looking up at gorgeous buildings and laundry hanging everywhere - oh what a site to see!  The students were tasked to a gothic area scavenger hunt before saying goodbye to our tour guide. Our last day! (And what a day it was!) Our day started like all the others with breakfast and a hop onto a bus to bring us into the main city centre. This time we were dropped off at Madrid’s “Central Park” called Retiro. We wandered through the beautiful greenery and made our way to the Crystal Palace. We stopped for several photo ops and enjoyed the walk around the pond.  After he park we. Made our way to Madrid’s School of Architecture where we saw the World Press Photo Exhibit.  We viewed many thought provoking images from around the world. Then we walked, winding though and around many little side streets and made our way over to our lunch time stop. We enjoyed a quick little break and then off to the two more museums in Madrid, the Reina Sofia and the Thyssen-Bornemisza - we spent several hours gazing upon and admiring many influential and key artworks from many important Spanish artists.  We saw works from the likes of Picasso, Durer, Caravaggio, Rubens, Edgar, M...
